Thanksgiving at PodShare: How Shared Spaces Create Real Community
Every year, Thanksgiving reminds us why PodShare exists.
While the holiday often brings people back to their families, it also highlights how many individuals — students, travelers, digital nomads, artists, and newcomers to Los Angeles — are spending this season far from home. At PodShare, we’ve always believed that community can be created anywhere when people share space, stories, and a meal.
This year, our members across Hollywood, Melrose, DTLA, and San Diego filled our shared tables, hammocks, couches, and pod lofts with conversation and gratitude. What could have been a lonely holiday for many turned into something meaningful — a reminder that home isn’t just a place; it’s the people you share it with.
A Holiday Shared Across Pods

DTLA hosted a cozy indoor gathering with guests lounging in hammocks, sipping drinks, and swapping stories under warm string lights and exposed brick.
San Diego
turned into a game night space where guests gathered around a glass coffee table for cards, music, and shared plates.
Hollywood transformed into a communal dining room, pods becoming casual seating for Thanksgiving dinner.
And
Melrose celebrated outdoors, surrounded by fall leaves, lights, and a table filled with drinks and seasonal decorations.
Each location has its own personality, its own energy, and its own people — but the thread that connects them is the same: community through shared living.

Why Community Matters in Shared Housing
PodShare was built on a simple idea:
Affordable access to safe, flexible housing shouldn’t be reserved for those with perfect credit, large deposits, or traditional renting histories.
By removing barriers like long-term leases, background checks, and upfront costs, we’ve created a model that supports:
- Newly relocated residents building their life in LA
- Travelers seeking a social alternative to traditional hostels or hotels
- Students and creatives looking for affordable same day housing for any duration
- People craving connection in an increasingly isolated world
Holidays like Thanksgiving prove that shared spaces aren’t just functional — they’re transformational. When people from different backgrounds share daily life, a genuine community naturally forms.

PodShare’s Mission Going Forward
As we continue expanding and rebuilding occupancy across California, our mission stays constant:
to provide accessible housing and a built-in community for anyone who needs a place to belong.
We’re proud that our members continue to make PodShare more than a bed. They make it a home — not just on Thanksgiving, but all year long.

Looking Ahead
If you’ve stayed with us before, we’d love to see you again.
If you’re new to PodShare, we welcome you to experience community living for yourself.
Spaces like ours only thrive through the people who fill them — and we’re grateful for everyone who makes PodShare what it is.
